Telford & Wrekin Council wants people to get involved as part of the Telford 50 celebrations taking place throughout next year.

The extension to Southwater Square is due to be finished in the spring and would feature this display as part of its new look.

The council wants the anniversary to be permanently recorded in Southwater Square, which overlooks the lake and Telford Town Park from its position.

Those interested have until December 4 to submit sentences and words that celebrate 50 years of Telford – and also its future.

Winning entries will be incorporated into features of the new public realm scheme.

Entries can be sent to telford50@telford.gov.uk or posted in the Telford 50 dedicated Facebook group. Council leader Shaun Davis said of the initiative: “We want as many people as possible to get involved in the celebrations for next year.

“Seeing your Telford 50 statement as a permanent feature in the new scheme, being there for generations to come, it is a great idea.

“I am sure lots of people from our borough will want to see their words become a permanent part of what will be the impressive new public space in Southwater,” Councillor Davies added of the scheme.
