A fault with an underground cable is being blamed for the loss of electricity to a number of businesses at Telford Forge Retail Park and Telford Bridge Retail Park as well as Malinsgate Police Station and the magistrates court.

Utility firm Western Power said: "The cause of the loss of supply was an underground cable fault to a feeder line.

"We were able to pinpoint exactly where the problem was and re-instate the service.

"The power was off between from 6.28am and it was back up by 8.03am. We're unable to say how many customers were affected."

Properties affected included Sainsbury's, JJ Sports at the Forge site, in Colliers Way.
