Telford &Wrekin Council is now taking applications for funding for celebration to mark the anniversary in 2018.

The Telford Pride @ 50 Celebration Grant is open to community or voluntary groups, neighbourhood groups, faith groups, charities, other not for profit organisations, town or parish councils, schools, businesses or individuals.

This grant is available through the council’s Pride in Our Community programme to help organise celebration events during Telford’s 50th anniversary.

Grants of up to £2,000 are available of celebration events.

Events must be distinct and different to those usually carried out over the course of a year and must be open, allowing the whole community to get involved.

All events must celebrate Telford’s 50th anniversary and fall under the themes people and places, culture and communities, green spaces, get active.

Applications are open until October 23.

To help plan events during the application process, the council has produced a communication and events toolkit, and these are also available on the Telford 50 website in the resources section.

Councillor Rae Evans, cabinet lead for Partnerships, said: “We want to help as many people as possible get involved in celebrating Telford’s 50th anniversary.

“So, any ideas you have for a celebration event could be eligible for funding to help make these happen."

The council has put a £50,000 fund together to support community–led events for Telford 50.
