Residents are frustrated

The main road through Lightmoor has been undergoing work for more than three weeks as part of development to the village to make way for further phases of a major housing development.

People living along Lightmoor Way say they were sent a letter of when the work, by developers working on housing at The Croppings, would be complete.

They say they were told that the work would be completed last week.

But the deadline has not been met.

Philip Johnson, who lives with his wife Sheila, on Little Flint in Lightmoor said they are among a number of residents who are frustrated with the delays.

He also said the temporary road surface has damaged tyres on his wife's car.

He said: "We had a letter giving us explicit dates for each section of the work and it was supposed to be finished on Friday or Saturday.

"All the residents are fed up to the back teeth.

"You keep thinking it is done, that it has been repaired and it goes back again."

Keepmoat, one of the developers has apologised for the inconvenience and says there has been a "number of unforseen issues".

Keepmoat, along with Crest Nicholson are developing homes at The Croppings. Development has been ongoing at the site for about a decade.

A Joint Venture between Keepmoat, Bournville Village Trust (BVT) and the HCA, in partnership with Telford and Wrekin Council, it is now in its fourth phase, which will see 74 new homes for sale by Keepmoat and 31 homes for rent for BVT.

The whole development will see around 800 new homes 25 per cent affordable, a new Village centre with retail, community and employment uses, an Extra Care facility, a new primary school, and recreational and community open space.

A spokesman for Keepmoat Homes said: “Unfortunately there have been a number of unforeseen issues at The Croppings, including the breakdown of plant, which have led to a delay in the resurfacing works being completed.

"We have instructed our contractor to issue a letter to all affected residents giving revised dates for the works to be completed and apologising for any inconvenience this has caused.”
