He visited Hendra House in Ludlow to congratulate the team on their success in recent years.

The home was recently awarded Gold in the Investors in People accreditation scheme and won Care Employer of the Year at the 2018 Caring UK National awards.

It was also voted Best Care Home in Shropshire for the second year in a row.

Mr Dunne said: “Hendra House has had remarkable success and recognition in national awards in recent years, thanks to the hard work of staff and management. So it was great to be able to visit and congratulate the team, and to see for myself how staff are being supported with further training to continue to improve the care offered to residents.

"It is no surprise that with this consistent success there is waiting list for both staff and residential places, and such excellence can only serve to set the benchmark for care provision in south Shropshire.”

The care home, which has 28 residents and 38 members of staff, was rated Outstanding by the CQC in October 2017 for the second time - the first care home in the West Midlands to achieve the rating.
