About 150 hankies with the names of soldiers who died in the First World War have been made.

The hankies have forget-me-not flowers embroidered onto them as well as the names of men from Ludlow who died in the war.

The hankies are being sold in Poyners Drapers in the town and funds raised will go towards the Ludlow War Memorial Fund and a new bench on Whitcliffe Common.

Margaret Edwards has been stitching the names onto the hankies since December.

She said: "I've embroidered the names of all the men from Ludlow War Memorial from the First World War and then Margaret Harrison has put the forget-me-not flowers on them.

"We're selling them in the shop for £3.50 to commemorate 100 years since the end of the First World War.

"The money is going to the war memorial fund and we're also having a bench put up in Whitcliffe Common in August in memory of the men.

"It's a metal bench which will have silhouettes of the soldiers on the back."
