Families at Berrington Hall, near Leominster, can relax in the sunshine on ‘Capability’ Brown’s 14-acre lake, as boating on the lake returns.

This unique and popular activity will run during weekdays from Monday until September 1. Visitors can follow the serpentine curves of Brown’s man-made lake and admire his final landscape masterpiece from a different perspective as they row around the glorious pool.

Throughout August, visitors can step back in time and immerse themselves in the history of one of Britain’s most popular beverages – tea.

Learn all about the history and etiquette of tea drinking and how this once exotic luxury was consumed and enjoyed by the aristocracy of the eighteenth-century. The venue for these talks will be the newly installed contemporary pavilion in the walled garden, designed by internationally renowned artists, Heather and Ivan Morison.

On Wednesday, children are encouraged to build their own ceramic masterpiece at Berrington with artist Emma Finch. They can take inspiration from ‘War & Pieces’ by Bouke de Vries which is currently on display in the Dining Room.

At Croft Castle, near Leominster, families can relax and enjoy some outdoor theatre on Monday as Immersion Theatre perform their adaptation of Kenneth Grahame’s classic tale, ‘The Wind in the Willows’ on the front lawn. Starting at 2pm, families can pack up their picnics and join the boat-loving Ratty, the sensible, yet curious Mole, wise old Badger and the fantastically irrepressible Toad as they embark on a thrilling adventure, culminating in a colourful battle against the sly weasel to save Toad Hall.
