The Middle Marches Lions Club held an 18th charter anniversary meal at The Plough Inn, Wistanstow, on Sunday, and invited members of other lions clubs from across the country.

Brian Dawson, secretary, has been running lions clubs for 40 years and in that time set up two clubs.

He said: "The meal was appreciated by the club and also other club members who attended.

"There were clubs from Wales, Kidderminster, north Cheshire and further afield.

"There were 37 people there in total."

Mr Dawson added: "We are there to provide a service to the community, whether that be fundraising or the provision of time.

"We have fairly modest financial needs and meet for charity quizzes a couple of times a year or for coffee mornings in the Craven Arms area."
