Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Cleobury Mortimer and Wellington were called to reports that the animal was in distress at the bottom of the 7ft hole, which also contained water.

When fire fighters arrived they found the animal was dead and was being removed by the landowner.

Three fire appliances including the rescue tender were sent to the incident, and crews left at 11.15pm.
