Simon Pearson died on June 13 at Lido Bosco Verdi, in the Puglia region of southern Italy, after going to the rescue of his 11-year-old daughter when she got in to difficulties in the water.

A beach worker also died after rushing to the girl's aid at the Bosco Verde beach in Ostuni, in the Puglia region of southern Italy, but the little girl survived.

It is believed Martino Maggi, 49, managed to bring the girl back to dry land but died after going back into the water to rescue her father.

It is understood that the 47-year-old managing director of Jesmonite, a building materials firm based in Bishops Castle, had been swimming in the shallows with his daughter when the tide pulled them in to deeper water.

At the time of his death, his wife Emma said the father of two had done everything he could to have saved his daughter.

A fast track inquest will be held at Shrewsbury's Shirehall by John Ellery, senior coroner for Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin.
