Woman cut free from car and airlifted to hospital after crash

A woman had to be cut free from a car before being airlifted to hospital today.

The woman, in her 50s, was in an estate car involved in a collision with a van near the Blue Bell Inn, near Churchstoke, at 1.45pm.

She was released by firefighters and taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital by the Midlands Air Ambulance.

A man, a passenger in the van, was also injured. He was taken by land ambulance to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

The road was closed to allow emergency services to deal with the accident.
