Gardens open up for charity

A number of gardens will be opening up to the public in a Shropshire village.

Stottesdon and district gardens will be opening up to visitors on Saturday and Sunday.

There will be up to 15 gardens available to be explored near the Clee Hills.

There are a mixture of gardens, large and small, traditional and modern, cottage style and formal, plus refreshments in the garden of the old Fox and Hounds Pub.

Preen Manor, Church Preen, will also be opening up to visitors this weekend,

The six-acre garden is on the site of Cluniac monastery and Norman Shaw mansion.

There is also a kitchen, chess, water and wild gardens, fine trees in park, woodland walks.

The garden has been developed for over 30 years with changes always in progress.

The gardens will be open this weekend for the National Garden Scheme in Shropshire, raising money for cancer and nursing charities including Macmillan, Marie Curie, Hospices UK and other causes.

Gardens open this weekend:

* Saturday and Sunday, 11am to 5pm: Stottesdon open gardens, Stottesdon, Kidderminster, Shropshire, DY14 8TZ. Admission is £6 for adults and free for children.

* Sunday, 2pm to 5pm: Preen Manor, Church Preen, SY6 7LQ. Admission is £6 for adults and free for children.
