The events are part of the National Garden Scheme which raises funds for cancer and caring charities.

Visitors can explore the garden at Walcot Hall, Lydbury North, on Sunday, when it opens up to visitors.

The garden features an arboretum planted by Lord Clive of India’s son, Edward, cascades of rhododendrons, azaleas amongst specimen trees and pools.

There are also views of Sir William Chambers’ Clock Towers, with lake and hills beyond, a walled kitchen garden, dovecote, meat safe, ice house and mile-long lakes.

A ballroom can be visited where teas are served.

There is also a Russian wooden church, grotto and fountain now complete and working, a tin chapel, relaxed borders and rare shrubs.

Just over the border in Montgomery Gorsty House will open up to the public on Saturday.

The 2.25-acre garden at Gorsty House was renovated, which started in 2014.

The owners are planting to attract wildlife, with wooded and shady areas, herbaceous borders with abundant cottage garden planting, new orchard, wildlife pond, and a secret garden, planted to encourage pollinators.

There are also views to the Long Mynd.
