Firefighters race out to rescue trapped greyhound in Shrewsbury

A fire crew was called out to rescue a greyhound that had become trapped between a gate and a gatepost while on a walk with its owner.

Firefighters were called out to Stapleton Road in Shrewsbury at 1.56pm on Monday to reports of an animal in need of rescue.

A spokesman for the Shropshire Fire & Rescue Service said crews used small gear to release the dog.

The spokesman said: "One greyhound released from entrapment between a gate and a gatepost using small tools."

The incident was declared over at 2.15pm.
