One person 'trapped' in crash on A5 at Shrewsbury

One person was reported trapped in a two-vehicle crash on the Shrewsbury bypass.

Emergency services went to the scene after the collision at lunchtime on Sunday.

The collision happened on the A5 close the Emstrey Island.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service sent two fire crews from Shrewsbury and Wellington at about 1.30pm.

A spokesperson for the rescue service said firefighters stabilised the vehicle allowing the casualty to leave the car.

"The casualty was taken to hospital by a relative," the spokesperson said.

Traffic backed up between the Emstrey and Preston islands.
