Man caught with drugs assaulted police officer in Shrewsbury

A man assaulted a police officer when he was caught in possession of the drug mamba.

Simon Budd, 38, was found to have a quantity of the Class B drug on his person in Shrewsbury on July 3 this year.

He committed an assault on a police officer when he was stopped.

Budd, of North Street, Castlefields, Shrewsbury, pleaded guilty at Telford Magistrates Court to possessing a controlled drug of Class B, and assaulting an emergency worker.

He was handed a community order by magistrates.
