Diane Lobban and Daughter Pippa Lobban are raising money for Shrewsbury Food Hub

Pippa Lobban, 26, and mum Diane are taking on the FoodHub5 challenge to raise money for Shrewsbury Food Hub.

Hub co-ordinator Pippa will be running 5km a day during April, while Diane will be walking five miles a day throughout the month.

Pippa has worked at the food hub for two years and it has grown tenfold since it started five years ago. She and Diane wanted to take part in FoodHub5 to celebrate the community coming together to stop wasting food in their home town.

Pippa said: "I'm a leisurely runner, mainly using it as an excuse to have the post-run coffee and cake. My FoodHub5 challenge to run 5k every day is going to be a big stretch!"

Diane, meanwhile, will be making sure she gets her daily 10,000 steps in, and has enjoyed walking throughout lockdown as a means of discovering new parts of Shrewsbury. Although she thinks it may be a challenge to get outside during April showers, they both agree that fundraising to keep such a great organisation going will be the motivation they need to clock up the kilometres.
