On Saturday, Shropshire fire crews were called out to two incidents involving bonfires.

At 12.50pm the fire service received a report of a private bonfire with no responsible person in attendance, in Kynaston Road, Shrewsbury.

The fire was out by the time crews arrived, but nearby residents were given advice.

Then, shortly after 6pm, a controlled burn was reported at Highfields in Wem. Advice was also given.

A statement from the Wem fire station said crew said: "If you are planning on having a bonfire, please inform our fire control of the time and address you are planning on having the bonfire at."
