Shrewsbury Farmers Market will be in the Square on Saturday from 9am to 3.30pm.

It is the first time the market will have traded since this current lockdown started.

It was due to return last Saturday, but severe weather warnings meant it had to be cancelled.

Loyal customers did have Mother’s Day goodies delivered, but traders are looking forward to being back properly.

Organiser Stuart Jones said: “We sadly cancelled the market on Saturday due to the gales forecast.

“We were delighted that shoppers contacted some of our producers via Facebook and they had deliveries at home which was wonderful, especially for Shrewsbury-based chocolatier Julia Vianni who had made lots for Mother’s Day and sold out by making home deliveries.

“The council has kindly allowed us to use the Square this Saturday, so we can return for the first time in 2021.

“We are all excited about returning and hope people will support us.”

There will be a variety of 19 food and drink producers selling their wares at the market.

Traders had a difficult 2020, missing out on many months of trade during the first lockdown at the start of the year, then again in November.

Some have adapted to the circumstances and launched online and delivery services, but other vendors had to seek work elsewhere and close down.

Shrewsbury Farmers Market scooped a Midlands Business Award for best farmers market in Shropshire and North Wales last year.
