Angela Roberts, 59, died after the two-vehicle crash on the A49 between the Sundorne and Preston roundabouts, which also left four others injured, on September 20.

It was reported at the time that members of the public performed CPR, but nothing could be done to save Ms Roberts, an accounts assistant from Lawley Bank, Telford.

A man believed to be the driver of the other vehicle, was treated for serious injuries and flown by air ambulance to the Major Trauma Centre at Royal Stoke University Hospital.

A woman believed to be a front seat passenger in one of the cars, was treated for potentially serious injuries and also flown to Royal Stoke University Hospital.

Two teenage girls were treated at the scene for injuries not believed to be life threatening. One was flown to Royal Stoke University Hospital and the other was taken by land ambulance.

Midlands Air Ambulance sent all three of its helicopters from Cosford, Tatenhill and Strensham along with four land ambulance crews and three paramedic officers from West Midlands Ambulance Service.

In a hearing at Shirehall in Shrewsbury, coroner's officer Gary Morris said: "Police and paramedics were called to a road traffic collision on the A49. Despite best efforts, the driver was confirmed deceased at the scene."

John Ellery, senior coroner for Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, adjourned the inquest to January 21.
