Tom and Bethan Kwaterski had come home to visit their dad Joe with their partners and decided that a trip along the River Severn from Montford Bridge was the perfect way to spend their time.

Rounding a corner they spotted a sheep up to its neck in water and sinking fast in the mud.

Tom leapt in to action and entered the water to save the sheep, which he then manhandled into his sister's boat.

The bedraggled sheep appeared unscathed from its watery experience and proud dad Joe said: "The adventure became a little more than they expected."
