Cleo Postlethwaite, 10, had anaplastic astrocytoma, often called called glioblastoma, a fast-growing form of cancerous brain tumour which only affects a few children in the country.

In an announcement on Instagram her mum Jane Park announced that Cleo had sadly died and with a short message said: "We will miss her forever."

The Team Cleo Fund was set up by mum Jane and Cleo herself and raised £20,000 for The Brain Tumour Charity to help fund research into tackling the cancer.

Also in the post the family say that they will continue to raise money in Cleo's memory.

"Cleo inspired so much good, not least through the Team Cleo Fund," it said. "We will carry on raising money to fund research and help spread the word of this terrible disease that snatched her from us in a bid to prevent other families from losing their own Cleos. #Acurecantwait."

Previously the family told how an ordinary violin lesson led to the discovery of Cleo's condition.
