Woman seriously injured after being hit by lorry in Shrewsbury

The Midlands Air Ambulance was scrambled after a pedestrian was hit by a lorry in Shrewsbury.

The emergency services were called to Robert Jones Way at Battlefield at 2.15pm today after receiving reports that a woman had been in collision with a lorry.

One ambulance, a paramedic officer and the Air Ambulance from Cosford with a merit doctor on board attended and the woman, who is believed to be in her 80s, was treated at the scene for serious injuries.

She was then taken by land ambulance to Royal Stoke University Hospital for further treatment.
