Firefighters rescue cow from bog near Shrewsbury - with pictures

A cow has been rescued from a bog near Shrewsbury by firefighters.

Three fire crews were called to Sleap, in Harmer Hill, just before 8.30am today, to rescue the cow which was up to its neck in the bog.

Station manager Chris White, said: "The animal was successfully rescued.

"It was stuck about 8ft from hard standing, up to its head in the bog.

"It was sedated by the vet and we used a winch to pull it out and got it up and it walked off, although it was a bit wobbly."

Firefighters used animal rescue equipment to release the cow from the pond, and the situation was under control by 10.30am.

A vet was also in attendance.
