Rescue crews and paramedics were called to the pool near Betton Abbots Farm, in Cross Houses near Shrewsbury.

But the woman was out of the water before the boat could be scrambled. She was treated at the scene.

Shropshire fire & Rescue Service sent four vehicles from Shrewsbury and Wellington as well as an operations officer to assist at the scene.

The service said it was alerted by the ambulance service at around 4pm yesterday.

It is the latest river rescue emergency in the county. Team Shrewsbury, a partnership working group between charities, emergency services and other organisations, has implemented a string of new initiatives to prevent people coming to harm in water.

There have been 10 river deaths since 2012 in the town alone. Around 40 pub and nightclub staff have been trained in water rescues and businesses have received safety kits containing throw lines and water jackets, while patrols in busy periods have helped to steer people from waterways.
