Earlier this year Shrewsbury Academy confirmed that a male teacher had been told not to come into work while the matter was investigated.

The allegations came to light when students from the school in Corndon Crescent started sharing images they had found on the website on social media.

Lowell Williams, the chairman of a new temporary board of trustees which was formed earlier this year, confirmed today that the teacher is no longer an employee of Shrewsbury Academies Trust and will not be returning to teach at the school next month when the new academic year starts.

The details of the investigation of the teacher's departure are not known.

A message about the issue was sent to parents from the school via text message in March.

The images included intimate pictures of the teacher, along with personal information, and were posted to social media at the time.

Shrewsbury Academy is made up of former schools Sundorne and The Grange.

It is run by Shrewsbury Academies Trust which also includes Grange Primary School, in Bainbridge Green, and Longlands Community Primary School in Market Drayton.
