Carol Seager, of Shrewsbury Humanists, repeated her success from 2017, once more winning a large gold medal and the Mike Hough Memorial Trophy for best outdoor show garden.

This year her garden was called Dawn till Dusk, featuring a floral reflection of the passing of time as expressed by the celebration of life‘s milestones.

Its centrepiece was a sundial which marked the passing of time. The dial also provided a metaphor for life’s journey highlighting how humanists conduct non-religious ceremonies for births, deaths and marriages.

The group's next meeting will be on September 20. It will focus on humanist celebrants and others who promote humanism in practical ways, such as humanist chaplains in hospitals and prisons and those who speak in schools.

The meeting will be held at University Centre Shrewsbury in the Guildhall, Frankwell Quay. Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.
