Officers asked for help finding the owner of the house in Kelsalls Lane, Shrewsbury, which has been empty for at least a year.

Police said the property was attracting - and providing a base for - negative behaviour in the area.

PC Ross Cookson said the house had become a nuisance since youths started using it as a den.

He said: “The building has been empty for at least 12 months. It has planning permission which has yet to start.

"They started to clear all the trees off the site but it has since gone quiet.

“We are now getting calls that some kids have started using it as a bit of a den and possibly more.

"Some windows have been broken and the door has been kicked in.”

PC Cookson said: “There are only four houses on the lane and it’s in a lovely area – or at least it will be when the new houses are built.”

He added: “Right now it’s just an eyesore.”

Shrewsbury police tweeted saying the owner had been found with the help of a local agent and the house will soon be demolished to make way for a new development.
