They met up before heading off around the roadsides, recreation area and streets in search of litter. Their clean-up effort was then followed by refreshments at the Horseshoes in Dorrington.

The morning was part of the Shropshire YFC County Chairman’s community challenge campaign.

Local councillor and beef farmer Dan Morris said: “I was delighted to help out when Dorrington YFC got in touch. Shropshire Council provided some equipment and the amazing Dorrington YFC arranged the litter pick, along with Dorrington Village Hall, and loads of their members helped out.

"There was a great turnout on the day. I enjoyed being part of the team and it shows what a great force for good YFCs are in our community.”

Dorrington YFC chairman, Laura Wilde said: “It is great to get involved with the village. We use the village hall monthly for our meetings and the recreation ground in the summer months. Young Farmers do a lot of community and charity work which I feel goes unrecognised to those not involved in the organisation.”

Dorrington Young Farmers are holding their annual club rally on June 2 at 7pm at Blackhurst Farm, Longnor, by permission of the Davies family. All are welcome.
