Arriva Buses has imposed diversions on a number of its services while the next phase of the Shrewsbury Integrated Transport Package begins on Wyle Cop.

Work is due to start on Monday to upgrade the footways and resurface the road between Wyle Cop and English Bridge.

The work is due to last approximately nine weeks, and road users are being alerted to some road closures while the work is carried out.

Wyle Cop will be closed to traffic in a downhill direction, heading out of town, for the duration of the footpath and kerbing work, and a signed diversion route will be in place.

As a result of the closure, buses will be diverted along either Castle Foregate and Smithfield Road before continuing with their journeys.

Departure times will change and expected journey times will increase.

The buses affected are the 1 to Telford Estate, X4 and X5 to Telford town centre, the 8 and 8A to Tilstock Crescent, the 21 to Reabrook Estate, the 23 to Heathgates (Judith Butts), the 27 and the 27A to Bayston Hill, the 544 to Lyth Hill, the 546 to Pulverbatch, the 70 and X70 to Oswestry and the Meole Brace Park and Ride.

The Park and Ride service will be diverted in to town via Roman Road, Shelton Road, Copthorne Road, Frankwell and Welsh Bridge picking up the town loop from Smithfield Road and leaving town via Welsh Bridge, Frankwell, Copthorne Road, Shelton Road, Roman Road to Meole Brace. Asda, English Bridge and Wyle Cop stops not served.

There will be no buses serving Shrewsbury College's Wakeman Campus at English Bridge.

The changes to the bus service are expected to be lifted by February 18.

Resurfacing work will take place between 8pm and 6am, for five nights – starting on February 26.

During these times Wyle Cop will be closed in both directions and Beeches Lane (Town Walls) will also be closed.

The St Julian’s Crescent one-way system will be reversed, with traffic exiting via Beeches Lane. Access into St Julian’s Crescent will be via English Bridge, and all vehicles will need to wait to be escorted through the closure.
