Man follows woman on way home after night out in Shrewsbury

A woman was followed by a man who made lewd comments while she walked home from a night out in Shrewsbury.

The woman was making her way home though Belle Vue in the early hours of Sunday morning when she was approached by a man who approached her and made an inappropriate suggestion.

She ignored him but he continued to follow her to the fishing shop on Belle Vue Road.

She immediately called the police who searched the area but could not find the man.

Officers have now made an appeal for anyone with information to come forward.

West Mercia Police spokeswoman Alexa Neville said: “A report was received by West Mercia Police shortly after 1am on Sunday.

“The woman reported that she had been walking along Belle Vue Road, when at the junction with Havelock Road she was approached by a man. She walked away and immediately rang the police. Officers attended and carried out a search of the area but no one was located.

“The man was described as white, aged in his mid to late 20s with short dark brown hair. He was wearing black jeans and a blue hooded top."

Anyone who was in the area late Saturday night or in the early hours of Sunday morning that saw a man matching this description is asked to contact police on 101, quoting incident number 43s of August 20.
