Cherie Reynolds, 49, who ran the Ash Grove care home in St Martins, admitted stealing £3,850 when she made a recent appearance at Shrewsbury Crown Court.

It has now been revealed that the Ash Grove in Church Lane is now longer run as a care home.

Reynolds admitted making eight cash withdrawals of between £100 and £300 from the account of Mr Albert Hughes and spending money on items for the residential home.

They includes payments for bedroom and lounge furniture, garden furniture and several garden gnomes.

She will appear for sentencing at a future date.

Fran Jones, Shropshire Council’s contracts officer, said: "The home manager made a decision to close the home in 2017. The two residents were supported by Shropshire Council to find alternative care arrangements.”
