The new look shop will include a Costa coffee dispenser and an enhanced, in-store bakery and will continue to work to support local charities.

Kelly McGrory-Roberts, Co-op Store Manager, said: “We are looking forward to welcoming members and customers back into their new-look Co-op. We are excited to be relaunching the store and confident that the investment in improvements will enable us to better serve our community with great quality products, conveniently.”

Lucy Crane, Area Manager for the Co-op, said: “We are investing in our people, stores, products, prices and communities, and are delighted to have had the opportunity to make such significant investment in Ellesmere, our aim is for stores to be at the heart of local life, bringing communities together and offering great quality products, when and where our members and customers need them.

“We also want customers to know that they can become a co-owner and member of their Co-op. And, that we are also giving back to the community. Our members make a difference locally, simply by swiping their membership card when they shop with us they raise much needed funding for organisations in the area who contribute to improving local life.”

The Co-op membership scheme sees members receive a five per cent reward on the purchase of own-brand products and services, with the Co-op donating a further 1 per cent to local causes.

They currently include Bethphage – which works to support adults in Shropshire with disabilities and mental health needs, and the Swan Mere Day Centre – which is raising funds to enhance its dementia friendly equipment.

Students and apprentices in Shropshire holding the NUS extra card also receive a 10 per cent discount off their groceries at the Co-op to support them during their studies.
