Patient flown to hospital after crash closes main road on Shropshire border

A patient had been airlifted to hospital after a crash closed a main road on the border between Shropshire and Wrexham.

The air ambulance was called to the scene of the crash on Saturday lunchtime

The A5 Chirk bypass was closed between the Gledrid and McDonald's roundabouts after the crash at around midday on Saturday.

A spokeswoman for the Welsh Ambulance Service confirmed the air ambulance was called at 12.30pm, and said one patient had been flown to Royal Stoke Hospital.

North Wales Police has been approached for a comment.
