The land, off Colliery Road, has been mainly disused since North Wales Fire Service built a new fire station close by in the town.

Plans submitted to Wrexham Council propose 10 new homes be built on the land, which also includes the former Sarn Chapel.

In the application the developer says the buildings are in generally poor condition and are currently used for storage in relation to the land owner’s business selling pigeon and pet feed. The majority of the land is disused.

The application, for a mix of one, two and three bedroom dwellings, would, the developer says, revitalise a largely disused and run-down brownfield site.

“It has the potential to assist younger people, single home-owners wanting to get onto the housing ladder as well as older people wishing to downsize which in turn has the potential to release larger properties to the market for those in need,” the design and access statement says.

The application will be considered by councillors at a later date.
