Firefighters find railway carriage ablaze after being scrambled to Llanymynech

A railway carriage was found to be ablaze in woodland after firefighters were called to Llanymynech.

Two fire engines were scrambled from Oswestry fire station at 6.15pm on Thursday after reports were received of a blaze in woodland near Heritage Way.

Fire crews from the Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service found a railway carriage approximately 10 metres by 5 metres ablaze and that the fire had spread to surrounding hedgerow and trees.

The blaze was put out by fire crew using one hose reel jet.

Officers declared the incident over at 6.43pm.
