Police were called to Pant, where two bodies were found in a property

West Mercia Police said that the pair, said locally to be mother and son, were found in their home in Ferndale, Pant, on April 21.

An inquest has been opened into the death of Andrew Owen, while the death of Margaret Owen is currently unexplained and the investigation continues.

Detective Sergeant Steve Lloyd said: “Our thoughts are with their loved ones at this difficult time.

“We believe this to be an isolated incident and are not looking for any other person in connection with the deaths at this time. However the investigation is still ongoing and we will continue with our enquiries to ascertain the exact circumstances.”

The two bodies were found when emergency services were called to the house.

Police said at the time they were called for concerns for a man’s safety at about 10.45am.

Ambulances and police vehicles were at the house alongside the busy A483 for some time and it was also visited by specialist forensic teams.

People living in the village said they would often see Mr Owen going back and forth to the local shop, but they did not see Margaret Owen.

A date has not yet been set by the Shropshire coroner for Mr Owen's inquest.
