Oswestry pensioner died while eating on hospital ward
An Oswestry pensioner died when he choked as he was eating while in hospital, an inquest has heard.
Roy Denver Fred Davies, 73, of Greystones Way, died at the Maelor Hospital, Wrexham, on January 7.
The cause of death was given as aspiration – when food goes down the wrong way.
At the opening of an inquest in Ruthin yesterday, John Gittins, coroner for North Wales East and Central, said he had been told by the ward manager that Mr Davies, a former vehicle inspector, was not being observed while eating.
The inquest was adjourned to a date to be fixed.
