A busy stretch of the A5 near Oswestry was closed during rush hour following a crash.

Emergency services were called to a crash between two commercial vans on the A5 between the Mile End roundabout and Whittington at 4.30pm.

One of the vans went up the embankment and rolled onto its side.

West Midlands Ambulance Service sent an ambulance and a paramedic officer to the scene.

A spokesman said: "One of the vans had rear end damage and ended up on the embankment and rolled over onto the drivers' side.

"He was treated at the scene and taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital with potentially serious injuries.

"Another man did not want to go to hospital."

West Mercia Police closed to road shortly after 5pm and it re-opened at about 6.15pm.
