Oswestry Visitor and Exhibition Centre will welcome author, Steve Reno, and illustrator, Geoff Davenport who collaborated on the book Araf the Giraffe to celebrate the birth of their mutal grandson, Aidan.

Geoff has lived in north Shropshire all his life and, after a career of more than 40 years as an engineer, he is now retired and able to pursue his lifelong passion as an artist. He is especially keen to work in pen and in and watercolour. This is his first venture into illustrating a children’s book.

"One of Aidan’s first words sounded like ‘Araf’ and one of his favourite stuffed animals was a giraffe, so the story of ‘Araf the Giraffe’ was born," he said.

Steve is a retired professor and university president who lives in Hampton, New Hampshire, USA.

The pair will be at the visitor and exhibition centre in the grounds of Oswestry Parish Church between 11am and 1pm.
