Grant Edwards, his brother Scott and Richard Cosgrove from Oswestry will be travelling to Nepal where they will begin to trek to Everest base camp two days later.

The 140 kilometre round trip trek will take them to the summit of Kala Patthar at 18,519 feet, and back to Nepal over a period of 12 days.

Their trek will take them through rough terrain, rugged valleys, a succession of Sherpa villages with incredible mountain views and over high suspension bridges.

Grant said: “This trip is as much about living life to the fullest as it is about raising money. We have chosen to fund the trip ourselves and at the same time raise monies for our local children’s hospices, Hope House.

“Hope House is close to our hearts as many of our friends and families have received care and support from them when they really needed it” said Richard.

“We recently attended an open morning at Hope House and were astounded to hear about the services they also provide out in the community that we didn’t know about and just how many families they help. We are honoured to be helping make a difference to these incredible families with our trek."

Jonny and Sarah Jones, close friends of Grant, Scott and Richard, have been receiving support from Hope House for almost 20 years. Their daughter Libby was diagnosed with a serious illness when she was just 18 months old and since this date the family have been received respite care as well sibling support for their other daughter, Rosie.

Lynsey Kilvert from the hospice said: "As the adventurers have chosen to self-fund their trip, every penny that they raise from taking on this incredible challenge will ensure that every child and family who needs support from Hope House receives just that.
