£2,000 raised for hospice at British Ironwork Centre proms event

More than £2,000 has been raised for a hospice after a Proms in the Park event was held at the British Ironwork Centre near Oswestry.

It was the second proms event that Nightingale House Hospice has held at the centre, and in total £2,256 was raised.

Performing alongside the Wrexham Symphony Orchestra was Elan Catrin Parry, a 15-year-old singer who just signed a recording contract with Decca Records, and operatic duo Rachael Marsh and Andrew Powis.

This grand event celebrated many profound milestones including the 50th Concert Anniversary of the Wrexham Symphony Orchestra and 100 years since the end of the First World War.

Also in attendance from RAF Cosford was Flying Officer Sam Laugher, who gave a speech to guests.

Sir Terry Waite CBE and professor Maria Hinfelaar was also among the other names in attendance.

Author and humanitarian Sir Terry Waite CBE and professor Maria Hinfelaar, the vice Chancellor of Wrexham Glyndwr University, were also at the special fundraising evening.

Lauren Tilston, head of fundraising for Nightingale House, said: “I want to thank everyone so much for their support.

“Our vital work in supporting those with life-limiting conditions, and their families, can only continue with all the help that we receive from events and fundraising opportunities like this."
