Delicatessen owner, Rosie Radford, won the Cambrian Ward seat on Oswestry Town Council with 44 per cent of the votes.

She took 191 votes with the Conservatives receiving 122 votes, Labour 80 votes, and the Liberal Democrats 32.

The seat became vacant after Conservative councillor, Julie Edwards, stood down.

Councillor Radford joins fellow Green Party councillor Nikki Hughes in Cambrian Ward, as well as a further four Green councillors who were elected to Oswestry Town Council last May.

Speaking after the count, which was held at the Gatacre Pavilion, Councillor said: "I am grateful to everyone who entrusted me with their vote.

"Oswestry badly needs a fresh approach and I’m delighted to join the growing Green team on the council to bring forward new ideas.

"If anyone would like to join our community campaign for Oswestry please get in touch."

As a former market trader, Councillor Radford was until recently chair of the Oswestry Market Hall Committee and also opened a cheese deli in Leg Street in the town centre.
