Two motorists escaped with minor injuries after a crash at an accident blackspot.

The busy A483 near Oswestry was blocked following the two-vehicle crash.

It happened at a notorious accident blackspot, the Maesbury Road junction on the Oswestry bypass at about 9.45am.

There were fears that someone was trapped in the vehicles but fire crews from Oswestry and Ellesmere arrived to find they were safely out of the cars.

Paramedics checked out those who were involved at the scene and they did not need hospital treatment.

Traffic was forced to find alternative routes while the emergency services dealt with the incident which blocked both carriageways.

Earlier in the morning an accident happened on the nearby A5.

Police were called just after 7.55am to reports of a collision on the trunk road, near Oswestry Golf Club and the junction of the B5009.

The crash involved a silver Vauxhall Corsa and a black Honda Accord and the road was temporarily blocked. There were no injuries.
