Nigel Quinn was cared for at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital last year, after being admitted onto the Montgomery Unit for a kidney condition in December.

However Nigel's illness was terminal and later died.

While in hospital Nigel and his wife Jane had agreed to kindly donate to oil paintings to the unit as a thank you for the care he received from the staff.

Jane said: "I’d spoken to Nigel about donating the paintings to the unit before he passed away; he wanted them to go a good home.

“Whilst visiting Montgomery we both noticed all the artwork that is in the unit and it really does give a talking point for patients and visitors.

“Nigel was terrified of hospitals, and the thought of him having to go into one was what scared him the most however the staff were amazing, they really eased his nerves.

“We didn’t spend an awful lot of time on Montgomery Unit, however every single time the staff were absolutely incredible, we couldn’t fault them.

“This is just our small way of saying thank you to everyone that really helped us through a difficult time.”

The paintings were accepted by clinical nurse specialist Caroline Pemberton and head of estates and facilities.

Caroline added: "The paintings are a lovely gesture from Jane and Nigel; they will make a lovely addition to the unit.

“Artwork is the perfect way to create a more relaxed environment for our patients; we get a lot of complements on what we display.”
