Simon Wright will attend tonight's meeting of Oswestry Town Council at the Guildhall and is expected to face questioning by councillors.

Mr Wright was invited to a meeting last month of the council but did not take up the offer.

The midwife led unit, housed at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital, has been closed for births and overnight stays for the past month and is expected to remain closed for another two to five months, along with units at Ludlow and Bridgnorth.

Anti-natal and post-natal appointments are unaffected by the ward closure.

Oswestry Town Council has be a strong supporter of the campaign to retain a midwife led unit for the area.

The meeting starts at 7pm and is open to the public.
