Man, 80, dies after crash on A41 near Whitchurch

An 80-year-old man has died after a crash near Whitchurch.

The crash happened at 9.06am on the A41 involving two HGVs and a Land Rover.

The driver of the Land Rover, an 80-year-old man from Wrenbury, died at the scene.

One man was taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital as a precaution and has since been discharged.

The A41 Whitchurch Road has been shut both ways all day from Chester Road roundabout near Clutton to the A534, Broxton Road.

Motorists have been warned to avoid the area.

West Mercia Police's operation and communications centre said diversions were in place near the road.

Cheshire Constabulary has launched an investigation into the crash and has asked for anybody with information to call them.
