Today the family of a Tony Dennis, 49, paid tribute to a 'truly special man'.

Mr Dennis was involved in a crash with a car on Catterals Lane, at the junction with the A525 Nantwich Road, at about 10.30am on Sunday.

He was pronounced dead at the scene after his yellow Yamaha motorcycle was involved in a collision with a blue Peugeot 307.

His family today said Mr Dennis, of Maidstone Grove, Stoke on Trent, loved to ride his bike around the country on a Sunday.

A family statement said: "Tony was a truly special man, his love for his family and friends knew no bounds and he was always thinking of others.

"His rides out on a Sunday and his biking holidays were a huge part of his life. He will be missed each and every day by those who knew him but will always be in our hearts."

Last March a motorcyclist and a pedestrian died on the A525 following a crash close to Villa Farm fishing pools.

Fisherman Roy Bundy was struck by a motorcycle ridden by Walter Dobrowolski and both pensioners died of multiple injuries.

The deaths prompted safety calls from police and a coroner who ruled that the road has inadequate warning sings.

Following the inquest into the two deaths, PC Neil Taylor recommended the site to be reviewed by Shropshire Council and asked that pedestrian warning signs are put up.

It is not believed any work has yet been carried out.

Villa Farm Fishing owner Chris Weaver, right, is leading calls to improve safety on the A525

Chris Weaver, owner of Villa Farm fishery, and Shropshire Councillor Gerald Dakin, have long campaigned for road safety improvements.

Mr Weaver has called for the speed limit to be reduced from 60mph to 40mph and has backed the calls for warning signs to be put up.

He also told police officers that the fishing pools are also regularly used by school children who have to cross the busy road.

Police are appealing for any witnesses, or anybody who saw either of the vehicles in the build-up to the crash, to come forward.

West Mercia Police spokesman Laura Maltby said: "Enquiries are currently ongoing but officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision, who was in the area at the time or who saw the vehicles and the manner in which they were being driven prior to the collision."

Anyone with information should call West Mercia Police on 101 quoting the incident number 255S of June 3.
