Severn Trent is inviting Wem residents to a meeting to hear about the final stages of the work to improve its water network in town.

The company has invested around £750,000 replacing two and half miles of pipes in Wem, and now wants to meet locals to talk about the last stage of the project in Barnard Street.

Dave Kiernan from Severn Trent said: "We’ve been working in Wem to replace the water pipes for the past two years, which means our customers can have a water supply that they can rely on for years to come.

"So now we want to meet with those who will benefit from our work the most before we start the final phase to make sure we can hear any concerns they might have."

The Severn Trent team, including partners Amey, will be at St Peter and St Paul Parish Church, High Street October 10 between 3.30pm and 6.30pm.

Mr Kiernan said: "We hope our work doesn’t cause too much disruption, which is why we want to meet everyone and talk through our plans. As we’ll be working on Barnard Street, parking will be restricted for those living there, so, to help, we’re offering those customers a free parking permit.

"We look forward to seeing many people there to talk about the project, and we’re also excited for our customers to start to see the benefits of the work."
