Lorry driver cut free after A49 tractor crash

A lorry driver suffered a leg injury and was cut from his cab following a serious crash on the A49 near Grinshill.

The accident involved a trailer becoming detached from a tractor and blocking the road and a HGV hitting a wall.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue crews from Shrewsbury, Wellington and Wem were called and used cutters to cut free the driver free.

An air ambulance was called, but the driver of the lorry was taken to hospital by land ambulance. The road was closed and traffic was being diverted on to the A53 and A41.
